Why SEO Need Become Second Nature To Every Blogger
Posted in Personal DevelopmentSearch Engine Optimization, or, SEO for short, is like your blogs social security number. It is a way of identifying, authenticating, and locating, YOU on the internet. Not only that, but this three letter abbreviation is your personal blogs magnet that draws the Google crawlers and people traffic all to YOU for FREE! With that said, let’s explain why SEO need become second nature to every blogger.
“Why write a blog post that will never get noticed by the search engines?”
You might say that you do not need to worry about SEO cause you got content syndication and the social media sites to promote them. Hmmmmm…….when do business owners only optimize their business in one or two areas only? Optimize means to increase, to surge, to grow. This is why we need to think about what we are writing with each Title and Body of content for every blog post and on every static silo on our blog. Each page may have its own theme under the overall theme of your blog. Why drive a car, if it is not operating on all cylinders?
SEO Is Your Signature
Remember, content still rules on the web, even if it is in video format. First, let me say this, that before you begin to indulge in SEOing, you need to define your overall business plan. Your blog is, as Katie would say, your “Personal Hub”, your “Nerve Center”. In other words, think of it as your very own, online cafe. Starbucks has a signature brand name coffee, not just a shop where people come in and chat and hook up to the internet. The owners are there, with their established brand, to make money. So, two things are happening, they created a social hub, that, in turn, makes money. Sounds like your blog, huh?
- What is your blog about?
- Who is your target market?
- What are you selling?
- How will what you sell benefit them?
- How will you help solve their problems?
- What keywords are you reaching them with?
When you have answered these questions, bear these answers in mind when you write. In time you will write more fluently, flawlessly, with keywords and post titles and content just pouring out without thinking too hard about it. But, at the first, you may have to think a little.
Keywords: The Heart of SEO
You have heard about “getting ranked for specific keywords“, right? If not, just stick with me a minute. Keywords are just that, they are words that resonate with your prospect/customers. They are the entrance into their heart and your personal ID for the Google crawlers. For example, quit smoking is a keyword phrase, with lots of competition, about 4 million competing sites with that exact phrase. See Google keyword tool. This is a research tool that will display what people are typing in. If your blog is about this then you will structure it so, with a variety of keywords and keyword phrases. Things to think about:
- WordPress plugin – All in One SEO – specially for your blog. Go to Plugins/Add New to locate and install.
- On-Page Optimization – Includes each static page title, description and keywords
- Intra-Linking – linking an anchor text(a keyword or phrase) of your blog post to a related page(e.g. product) on your site
- Intra-Linking – Each static page should have its sub-pages link back to its parent page.
- Inter Linking – from one site to another. E.g., other UT members linking to your site. Leaving comments accomplishes this as well -very important. Others will do the same for you thus telling the search engines you have value content here and are in demand.
Personal growth or development pages are going to have a much more broader keyword selection than say, social media, social networking, Google Adwords, MLM, etc. Use your words wisely. Your blog part of your site need be targeted, after you spend some time researching your post topic. Don’t write a post title, “Hey, What’s Up?” and end up talking about how to make money with Facebook. Instead let your title be “How To Make Money Online Using Facebook.” This tells the search engines what the post is about and connects it to those looking for that keyword phrase.
Finally, if your blog is about Social Media, then the SEO power resonating from your blog is going to involve keywords such as Facebook, Twitter, and any others that you plan on talking about. If Facebook is your fetish, then your blog need be about facebook. The more centralized your theme, the better you will rank and become an authority on that theme, instead of trying to be a jack of all trades, master of none, which I have done before.
We will talk more about keywords, linking, anchor texts, getting link love, and how to get your blog posts ranked on the first page of Google. Also, we will talk about article marketing and how to use it to drive traffic to your nerve center.

Good stuff Joseph. Keywords are def extremely important to any blog. But someone probably shouldn’t focus on the keyword Facebook lol. That would have over a hundred million competing pages ha ha. I mean yeah someone can have their “theme” be about Facebook marketing, but probably not their keywords.
Anyways, I like your style! I’m sure I’ll be seeing you around!

Hi Landon, thanks for the comment. You are so right about the keyword Facebook, LOL! The word itself is a little broad to focus on and much competition to it. I was just making a point about theme focus. Their keyword selection would need to be much less competition per phrase, or word….
Ha ha yeah i figured thats what you meant! : )
I think I’m actually going to make a video on keyword research because to me it seems like 98% of people don’t do it all, or do it extremely poorly lol!
And in most cases it’s not their fault, they were just never taught how to do it the right way.
Luckily they have people like you to help straighten ‘em out!
