How Many People Do I Really Need To Sponsor Into My Home Biz?
Posted in Personal DevelopmentMark Weiser is a very successful and well-known entrepreneur and network marketer. He trains now many a networker, like myself. This recent email I receive from Mark I just had to share, verbatim. I learned so much from him, especially in the series, BlackBelt Recruiting. So, without further ado, here is Mark to talk about sponsoring prospects…..
I get this question a lot… and maybe it’s one you or someone in your downline have as well… so, thought I’d address it
in a quick “tip” today. Here’s the question:
“How many people do I really need to
sponsor? Is it a good idea to try
and sponsor a lot of people – OR – just
sponsor 3 or 4 good people, and work
with them? Seems to me if you sponsor
lots of people like you advocate, you really
can’t train ‘em properly and they’ll just
end up quitting, won’t they?”
Good question! Here’s my thoughts:
In a perfect world, most of us would never need to sp
onsor more than 3 or 4 people
personally. Unfortunately, we don’t live in a “perfect world.” In the real world, people we sponsor
sometimes come aboard and do… nothing. Some quit, some quietly fade-away and still others try and turn out not to be cut-out to be entrepreneurs.
Yes, qualifying and sponsoring stronger prospects can help (a lot) but it’s not a guarantee you’ll
never have to sponsor more than 3 or 4 people. So with that said, why not sponsor a lot more
than that? Beyond the fact you have to “work a little harder” to do it, is there really any downside?
Some would argue … yes. That it’s impossible to work with more than a few people. My thoughts? That’s just not true. You CAN work with more than 3 or 4 personally sponsored, IF you do it “SMART.” One of my favorite ways to “work & train smart” is to train via conference calls. Instead of making all your trainings 1-on-1, why not use a conference
line and train 3 to 5 people at a time?
This approach works… sometimes even BETTER than 1-on-1 and here’s why:
- it can build camaraderie
- if one person asks a question that the rest of the people were afraid to ask, it benefits everyone
- it’s very time efficient
- it makes training more fun for everyone involved.
Now, I’m not suggesting you never do 1-on-1′s -(you can still do that when necessary) – I’m just suggesting you work as efficiently as possible. 3-way calls over a conference line can also teach multiple team members simultaneously.
My feeling is you really can never sponsor too many people… if you’re on a roll, remember you can always
give-up sponsorship to one of your leaders in your organization. You can sponsor abundantly and still have plenty
of time to work with your leaders (and emerging leaders)… if you’re smart about it.
Bottom Line: keep on sponsoring at least UNTIL you have 5-7 SOLID LEADERS who are duplicating YOU - and even then, keep your skills sharp at least by doing regular 3-ways.
Those are my thoughts!
Until Next Time…
