Home Business: An Idea Whose Time Has Come

Posted in Personal Development

“A few daily disciplines makes a difference in years to come.”  “Now is the time to fix the next ten years.”  “Are you reading the books that are going to take you where you want to go in the next 5 years.” “Abandon hoping for something without acting upon it.” - Jim Rohn

It would seem, in a time when economic uncertainty parades itself without shame, and the likelihood of success fades as a flower, that a simple, profound idea could come to challenge and defeat that same uncertainty. Our economy today, of which, over the last 2 years, has been compared to the Great Depression of the 1930′s, is at a point where it could go further terribly bad or incredibly good, very fast. However, the usual remedy is some sort of economic boom, like – not preferably, war, as was the case in 1941, WW2.

This excerpt from wikipedia:

“The Industrial Revolution was a period from the 18th to the 19th century where major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transport and technology had a profound effect on the socioeconomic and cultural conditions starting in the United Kingdom, then subsequently spreading throughout Europe, North America, and eventually the world. The onset of the Industrial Revolution marks the major turning point in human history; almost every aspect of daily life was eventually influenced in some way. Most notably, average income and population began to exhibit unprecedented sustained growth. In the two centuries following 1800, the world’s average income increased over 10-fold, while the world’s population increased over 6-fold.  In the words of Nobel Prize winning Robert E. Lucas, Jr., “For the first time in history, the living standards of the masses of ordinary people have begun to undergo sustained growth. … Nothing remotely like this economic behavior has happened before.” – Wikipedia

Well, that is, until now, Mr. Lucas. The global economic crisis is stirring up a giant.

Many thousands today are realizing the incredible economic “BOOM” that has been happening for a few decades now. Such a boom that could lift not just the national and global economies, but, each individual economy, which most people know more about vs. the overall economy. The one type of business that has always been quoted as the backbone of America is Small Businesses. You know, the local mom and pop stores and the such likes of 100 + employees or less. However, the knowledge that Home Businesses are The Idea Whose Time Has Come, is still only understood by a few. It too is a part of the small business economy.

Home Business: Educating The Masses

There is no secret that home based business is creating millionaires, especially in the health and wellness industry, which is a multi-billion dollar industry.  The biggest problem that most recruiters face, especially without training is, how to overcome the preset, in default mode, mindset of the average person. A mindset that is defeated, I am not or never will be successful. This must change if personal economy is to change.

“To turn nothing into something you must have ideas and imagination. An idea must have some type of substance, it is not nothing. Ideas so strong you can touch it, imagination so strong you can actually see it.” – Jim Rohn

If the average person could see that they could insert themselves into the home business arena and become successful, no telling what would happen in America or elsewhere. The most popular way people are going to be informed today about products and opportunity is this, as stated by economist Paul Zane Pilzer:

“Intellectual distribution, as opposed to  physical distribution, is where the greatest fortunes are being made today and will continue to be made for at least the next decade….Manufacturers today report that the greatest bottleneck they have is not in creating the next great new product; it’s how to reach people and teach them that these new products exist……So where will they learn? There is really only one place: from other people. The most effective way we have to teach people the new method is one-on-one, word-of-mouth communication.” – Paul Zane Pilzer

In conclusion, as network marketers, we must reform our thinking, if not already, into becoming teachers, not sellers, of our products and businesses. We are information sharers. We are the commercials they see. Meet the negative mindsets with a powerful and positive mindset. Determine you are a leader, and educate. Be relentless. Educate yourself, and then pass it on.

What will keep you from being another dropout statistic? COMMITMENT to the idea whose time has come! I leave you with this great video!

Great post. Did you happen to see that America series on the history channel!? Your post reminded me of that because the series spoke about the same thing — America was built on entrepreneurs. And amidst this recession, we can continue to build our nation through this incredible industry.

  2. Hi Joseph,

this is an amazing post, the video of course as well. The difference to past decades is today that our ancestors as small business owners didn’t have any leverage. Today we have the internet. But the internet doesn’t help as means of leverage, if we don’t leverage our mind – the most important leverage. That’s where personal development comes into play.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Take care

    Hey Oliver,
Thanks so much for your great comments. You are so right about leveraging our mind. It is hard to do things online if we don’t have it in our hearts. Personal development is so key to developing into a person of success and value.
